Members Art Show 2023
The Members Art Show 2023 was held in October with ten categories and prizes. The art winner for 1st place received a ribbon and $50 cash, 2nd place received a ribbon and $25 cash, and ribbons for 3rd and Honorable Mention. The photography winner for 1st place received a ribbon and $50 cash, 2nd place received a ribbon and $25 cash, and ribbons for 3rd and Honorable Mention. We had our members vote for their favorite painting or photograph and the Popular Vote ended in a tie.

Tom Chapman a was the judge for paintings. He is a former jockey turned artist, but instead of riding horses he now paints them, and also paints other animals. Because of his background and knowledge of horse anatomy, his paintings are accurately depicted. His medium is oil on canvas; has taken a few private lessons to learn about color mixing and values; but for all practical purposes he is self-taught. Tom’s artwork hangs in private collections across the United States and other nations. He has been a member of Art Bias for several decades, and when its manager was exposed to a variety of media, crafts, and photography.

Fred Aron was the judge for photography. He considers his art a search for ways to illustrate how he experiences his environment, and sees the two-dimensional nature of the photograph itself as inherently interpretive. Aron uses the camera to explore the order, nature, and beauty of a scene while expressing underlying qualities that evoke an emotional connection in the viewer. His projects include cultural, environmental, industrial and conceptual themes which share a thoughtful, studied approach to composition and strong attention to detail. Aron has been photographing the natural and built environment since childhood. He studied architecture, fine art, and design at California College of the Arts, and structural engineering at San Jose State University. Aron worked as a structural engineer designing bridges for nearly 20 years. He currently devotes his creative attention to photography.”
