Membership
Membership to the Sequoia Art Group (SAG) is open to anyone 18 or older whether they are currently learning to paint in any media or have been painting for a long time. Photographers are also welcome into the group, as it takes an “artistic eye” to compose a good photograph. To join, you need to attend a meeting, bring a painting or photograph you have done as an example of your work, fill out a Membership Application, have your sponsor sign it (usually a member/friend who invited you to attend, otherwise another member will sign), and pay the annual dues of $30.00. Dues go toward the costs of program demonstrators and mailings of the monthly newsletter. Print or view an Application for Membership (PDF format) online.
Earn a Signature Membership Certificate
It has often been said that you get out of an organization what you put into it. There is no required participation, so if this does not interest you, that’s okay. Some of you may think that this would be a fun program to help boost activity, help SAG and give each of us some goals for our own improvement.
Points are given for three types of activity:
1. Participation in SAG
2. Improving your artistic skill
3. Building SAG as an organization
Each member keeps track of their own points while concentrating on the type of activity that suits them best. A scrapbook is very convenient for this purpose and/or use our form. After acquiring 100 points, you are awarded the “Signature Membership Certificate” which will entitle you to one free entry in our Annual Art Show. But why stop there? Earn as many certificates as you like. The point system is listed below:
