Art Show Rules and Regulations

Who: Artists (Adult Division) must be at least 18 years of age and reside in the Sequoia Union High School District (Belmont through Menlo Park). Artists living outside the Sequoia High School District must then be a member of the Sequoia Art Group (SAG) to enter.

What: Up to three large paintings or photographs, plus one miniature painting, and/or one Art and Flower arrangement entry may be submitted (for a total of five entries). All work must be original and entirely the work of the submitting artist. (Using a teacher’s or artist’s idea or help, then completing that work at home, is not considered to be original.) No class work please or work shown in a previous Redwood City Art Show.

Entry Fee: $10.00 per entry (painting or photograph) for SAG members, and $15.00 per entry for non-members. Make checks payable to Sequoia Art Group.

Where: Entries are accepted in the large room at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, CA.

When: For all entries, bring your artwork on Thursday, May 14, between 3:00pm and 7:00pm.

How: Entry blanks (PDF format) must be filled in by the artist and brought with entry. All entries (except miniatures) must be securely framed and wired for hanging. No saw-tooth hangers allowed. No wet oils accepted. All but oils and acrylics, treated as oils, must be under glass or Plexiglas. No painting is to exceed 36″ width or length, frame included. The Art Show Committee reserves the right of selection for the show. Any entries not used will be stored until the close of the show.

Presentation of Cash Awards: Begins at 4:40pm on the final day of the show (Sunday). Show expenses are supported by the Redwood City Civic Cultural Commission. Adult awards are donated by the Redwood City Parks & Arts Foundation, Sequoia Art Group, University Art, California Art Supply, Blick Art Materials, Arya Steakhouse restaurant, Portobello Grill restaurant, Cafe La Tartine, Donato/Cru Restaurants,Trader Joe’s, and the Port of Redwood City.

Awards: Adult award ribbons will be given at the judge’s discretion in all categories, plus “Best of Show” $300, 2nd place $200, 3rd place $100, photography $100, plus gift certificates.

S. Art and Flowers: A floral arrangement that complements or coordinates with an accompanying painting done by the exhibitor. Flower arranging levels are Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Note: This entry must also be checked, and any wilted flowers replaced on Saturday or Sunday from 12:00pm-12:30pm after the show opens

Pick up
On the final day of the show (Sunday) between 5:00pm and 5:30pm. Receipt must be presented for release of all artwork. If you are unable to pick up your artwork during that time period of time, please arrange for another person to do so for you. All artwork not called for will be charged a storage fee per day. No exhibit may be removed before the close of show.

Insurance
While all possible care is taken for each piece of artwork, insurance is the responsibility of the individual artist.

No fee; limit of one piece of artwork per student entering individually or with an entire classroom. Obtain entry information from your school art/photography teacher or contact Dave McClure at (650) 369-1893.
