Members Art Show 2024
Scott Johnson will be the judge for paintings. He is part of the Portola Art Gallery at Allied Arts in Menlo Park. Scott’s work focuses on the local landscapes of his California home, and strives to capture the world in a style known as impressionistic realism. He is a juried Artist Member of the California Art Club, and member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. He mostly works directly from nature as much as possible to capture the effect of light, values, and colors that can only be seen in person. He has studied under some of the world’s foremost contemporary landscape artists, including Joe Paquet and Marc Dalessio.
Alan Hart will be the judge for photography. He has a studio at Art Bias on Industrial Road in San Carlos. Alan began as a film photographer in his teens recording memories of mountain climbing. In college he expanded his photographic interest as the photography editor of the California Engineer magazine, a student-published journal of UC Berkeley and UCLA where he learned image-based story telling. He went on to contribute to the future of digital photography through the development of electronic systems that enabled flash memory technology to produce noon-volatile memory storage, more commonly known as SD and CF cards and solid state disc drives. By 2010 he started Focus in Paradise Photography Workshops in Kauai with a friend. Then brought the workshop to Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, CA. Since then Alan has been involved with the Dischler Photography Workshop in Palo Alto, plus joined the Center for Photographic Art in 2019 and Art Bias in 2022.
