January 23 INSTALLATION LUNCHEON. Harry's Hofbrau reserved room opens at 11:30 a.m; meeting from 12:00pm to 2:00 p.m.
February 22 KATHLEEN ALEXANDER (watercolor floral). Kathleen's beautiful watercolors can been seen at local art festivals. She studied with photo-realist Jim Torlakson at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, teaches watercolor classes in Pacifica, and gives three-day workshops on painting flowers and koi. March 22 JULIA MUNGER SEELOS (oil landscape). This plein air artist paints the landscapes of Northern California and the central coast. The colors and patterns of nature are a constant source of inspiration. She attanded Rhode Island School of Design, the University of Cincinatti, and San Jose State University with a BA in Design/Illustration. She has been a design director in retail store design and packaging and sales promotion in San Francisco. April 26 SHERRY VOCKEL (pastel). Using soft pastel, Sherry paints in a representational style to capture the beautiful spirit of animals and their unique personalities. Her emphasis is on painting fur and body structure using photographs. Sherry attended Brook's Institute of Photography, Academy of Art College, and studied with Bob Gerbracht, Ben Konis and Jim Promessi. She is currently a signature member of the Society of Western Artists and a member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast. Visit her website at www.thebeautyofpets.com.
May 24 NINA DECKERT (watercolor effects with acrylics).  Nina is a Golden Paints representative who will show examples of acrylic used as watercolor.  She will discuss pigment properties, the merits of using acrylic and the different effects and techniques made possible with acrylics thinned with water, as well as discuss acrylic grounds that accept any water media, plus archival considerations such as light fastness and varnishing. There will be a live demonstration with many painted examples, plus free paint samples to attendees.
June 28 WILLIAM DUNN (watercolor).  William typically prefers a loose style and enjoys painting a variety of subjects, but gravitates toward taking urban landscapes and trying to capture the underlying mood and atmosphere of the scene.  He was trained at San Jose State University and Art Center College of Design.  He has painted throughout his career and has taught watercolor and design extensively at DeAnza and Foothill Colleges.  In his mid-career he taught graphic design and was the Department Chairman at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.  Visit his website at http://williamdunnstudio.com.

August 23 THE GREAT PAINT OUT (all members). A large canvas will be available for art group members to take their turn painting on any part of the canvas. It will be great fun to see the end result .
September 27 Wood RiverJIM CALDWELL (oil). After winning a high school art prize, Jim went on to study art at Williams College. He then spent a year at Ecole des Beaux Arts in 1965, traveled throughout Europe and then attended graduate school at Yale University in architecture. He has had over 30 one-man shows, participated in 15 group shows, and has paintings in over 300 private collections. He also teaches acrylic painting at Stanford Extended Studies each fall and otherwise spends his time between painting and residential architectural design at his studio in Woodside. October 25 FERNANDO REYES (printmaking). Art is a second career for Fernando, after spending 17 years in banking in San Francisco. He began as self-taught then decided on a formal education attending the Art Institute of Chicago where he obtained a BFA in 1997. Returning to the Bay Area, he settled in Oakland where he currently works out of the Ford Street Studios. This versatile artist works in oils, charcoal and conte drawings plus printmaking. His subjects include figurative nudes, landscapes and urban scenes in a mostly semi-representational style. Fernando was recently selected for the 100 Series art book entitled “100 Artists of the Male Figure” which will be out next fall by Schiffer Publishing. Visit his website at http://www.freyesart.com
